I believe I have discovered what it’s like to be President Trump. Stringing together the various compliments bestowed on me by Ordsall, Zarke and Dr Frank during this week’s Have Your Say, The Nation’s readers are encouraged to believe that I am a “weird, racist, yeller-bellied, creepy, neurotic, xenophobic, white supremacist, flaccid, gutless, cringing, obtuse, snobbish, invertebrate poltroon”. My dear wife is puzzled by this, since she regards me (I believe) as a harmless old buffer. It seems that my treatise on UK “shithole” towns last Sunday, like Trump’s “shithole countries” the previous week, unleashed a similar torrent of inflammatory language and personal abuse from Have Your Say’s infamous New World Order-ists.
True to liberal-fascist form, the three writers adhere strictly to Frankfurt School tactics – they ignore or deny the facts, vilify and demonise the writer, and above all, they avoid addressing the topic in question, in this case the pleasantness or otherwise of UK’s “culturally enriched” towns and cities. Why advance a debate when empty rhetoric and hyperbole beckons? As Trump would say, “Losers!”
