What an endless circus!

What an endless circus!

Re: Retired cop vows at shrine that lottery millions belong to him, Feb 5, 2018

Thais lie but when they lie to each other they call upon superstitious nonsense to prove their honesty in the hope that other fools believe them.

What a circus! Love it.

This is one convoluted situation if I’ve ever seen one whereby all parties are right and wrong at the same time with conflicting evidences and eye witnesses. How about, instead of invoking the powers of the supernatural to punish the liars, just ask them to grant you another win of the jackpot and everyone will be happy...

Jeez’ how far are they gonna take this. I mean, summoning up supernatural entities to severely punish the porkie pie teller is defcon 2 territory .. Once those entities are out and about, who knows what havoc they might cause. And what if the entities have got other folk to severely punish over the next 7 to 9 days as I’m fairly sure there are a lot of porkies told here on a daily basis and some might maybe more important to investigate than others ... like who actually owns a lot of rather expensive wristwatches ... for instance ..

Thai supernatural entities are much more bureaucratic than those of other cultures. Anyone who hasn’t filed the appropriate vows (and submitted the supporting devotional offerings in triplicate) won’t even be considered for higher judgement. Assuming all the celestial red tape is in order, 7-9 days is the usual period for the holy divinities to make a decision. After that, of course, there’s also the appeals process, although it’s rumoured that a satisfactory outcome may be possible using the highly clandestine golden envelope option.

I still don’t understand why they don’t simply divide the Bt30 million two ways – Bt15 million each really should be enough for any normal person. Then they could get on with their lives and stop all this nonsense.

If something happens to the cop, it will 100 per cent because of the vow. If nothing happens, he will be innocent because of the vow.
The shrine comes out the winner either way. It’s pretty easy being a shrine.
canuckamuck
If I had bought lottery tickets and lost them and a random person picked them off the ground, I would never expect I have a right to claim the prize.
