Dell heads upcountry for notebook sales target

DELL (Thailand) is looking to boost sales of its notebooks upcountry as part of a plan to grab 5 per cent of the market for low-end notebooks by the end of the year.

Anothai Wetthayakorn, vice president of Dell EMC Indochina, said the company now has 3 per cent of this market in Thailand.
Dell will come out with the new Inspiron 3000 series – with models ranging Bt10,000 to Bt15,000 - to customers in provincial areas, those in the Northeast region. 
The firm also plans to add 50 business partners to its network in order to expand its business base by the end of this year. It now has around 200 business partners nationwide. 
Backing this goal, the company will set up three more Dell concept stores in provincial areas.
 It now has nine such stores nationwide, including five in Bangkok.
Anothai said the company provided notebooks to compete in three levels of the market. Its premium offerings start from Bt25,000. For the mass market, its devices range from Bt15,000 to Bt25,000. The low-end notebooks start from Bt10,000.
The company has launched the xPS 13 laptop, for the premium market. It features a 13-inch frame, running on Windows 10 and is powered by the Intel 8th Generation Quad Core processor.
The price starts at Bt59,000. Anothai said that the notebook market was continuing to see growth, especially for the commercial sector with the demand for devices to support companies’ operations. Businesses are also looking for |notebooks to replace desktop computers.
The company by the end of this year expects revenue from notebooks for the mass market to account for 80 per cent of its total, with the high-end market making up 15 per cent.
