LPGA stars help renovate BBL ground
Four of the world’s top women golfers scheduled to compete at this week’s Honda LPGA THAILAND 2018, including Ariya Jutanugarn, Saranporn Langkulgasettrin, Amy Yang and Ha Neul Kim, participated in the tournament’s social activity “Honda LPGA THAILAND CSR 2018” on Tuesday's morning in Chonburi.
Taking place at Wat Khao Pho Thong School in Chonburi Province on February 20, the activity encompassing renovation of the BBL (Brain-based learning) playground, and provision of sports equipment and school meal allowance is part of Honda and IMG’s attempt to extend the tournament beyond the level of mere golf competition by improving the lives of the community members near the tournament site.
Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Chief Operating Officer, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd said, “As the title sponsor of Honda LPGA THAILAND, Honda ensures the local community grows along as the tournament progresses by holding the Honda LPGA THAILAND CSR 2018 activity to extend the joy and happiness to the students in need at Wat Khao Pho Thong, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Our team and the athletes are gathering here to renovate the school’s BBL (Brain-Based Learning) playground, donate sports equipment and provide lunch meal funding with focus to improve the students’ learning ability and physical wellness while building their interest in sports and getting them inspired to pursue their dreams at the same time.”
Miss Winnie Heng, Vice President and Managing Director, IMG (Thailand) said, “The goal of the Honda LPGA THAILAND tournament is to enable all players, staff and spectators to enjoy the fun and exciting golf experience, and take it as a good chance to make positive social impacts, particularly to those whose dreams can be realized with proper support and opportunities like children. We hope the renovation of the school’s BBL playground will help spark the students’ creativity and encourage them to engage in more learning activities outside classrooms. We also hope that the children will be inspired to dream big, work hard and achieve their dreams just like the LPGA players they are meeting today.”
One of the Thai players who joined the Honda LPGA THAILAND CSR 2018 crew, Ariya Jutanugarn revealed “It is my pleasure to become part of such a special program, besides joining the tournament itself. I realize the tournament does not only stand for the glory of championship victory because we can do meaningful deeds and make a positive impact on other people through this opportunity as well. It is a humble start, but I’m sure the material and financial support we gave the children today can turn into a major source of learning opportunities and inspiration in the future.”
The winner of the 2015 and 2017 editions of Honda LPGA THAILAND Amy Yang said, “I would like to applaud Honda and IMG for providing such a thoughtful and practical support for local students so they can have access to a comprehensive learning environment. My interaction with the children has, in turn, gave me optimism, courage and spirit to keep doing my best and be a good role model for the next generations.”

Admission tickets of Honda LPGA THAILAND 2018, scheduled on 22-25 February 2018 at Siam Country Club Pattaya Old Course, are now available on www.hondalpgathailand.com. Ticket for 22 and 23 February’s one-day pass is 350 baht, 24 and 25 February’s one-day pass is 550 baht, weekend two-day pass is 950 baht, and four-day pass is from 1,200 baht. Children of 16 years old and below and senior citizens over 60 years old are entitled to free entry. The event will be televised live in FULL HD on 9 MCOT HD (Number 30).
