Criticising Muslim extremists not the same as condemning all Muslims

Criticising Muslim extremists not the same as condemning all Muslims

Re: “Don’t tar deep South with your prejudice against Muslims”, Have Your Say, March 3

Letter-writer “Noah Zarke” claims I have a prejudice against Muslims. The reality is that I live next to a mosque in a Muslim area and am happy to share the space with my Muslim neighbours. I happen to love the taste of chicken (take note, Mr Bahrt) and all my chicken is bought from the local Muslim vendor. Each of us values the other: he tells me in advance when he will be away sourcing his produce, he knows what I want, and I reward him handsomely.
“Zarke” missed the gist of my letter completely. Had he read it thoroughly he would have seen that I mentioned Muslims were victims of the violence.
He then went on to attack fellow letter-writer JC Wilcox. In stark contrast to JC’s contributions, letters by “Zarke” have little if any intellectual substance. They are merely emotional rants.
To adapt an old saying, presumption is the mother of all disasters.
