CONSUMER MOOD DIPS

The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) for February dropped for the first time in seven months on concerns over the global economy and doubts over Thailand’s economic recovery, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) said.

Thanavath Phonvichai, director of the UTCC’s Economic and Business Forecasting Centre, said that in addition to the global and domestic economic concerns, people also expressed worries over the low prices of agricultural products. particularly rice, rubber, tapioca, field corn and oil palm.
The CCI dropped to 66.2 in February from 67 a month earlier.
