‘Humanising’ cows is no way to show them respect
I would like to thank Simon Ordsall for his timely and very appropriate contribution, with which I agree completely.
I am an old man now, but I grew up on a dairy farm where the cows were respected and well treated and I know that this is still generally the case.
Cattle and other animals do have feelings but their actions are often instinctive rather than an expression of their feelings. Interpreting their feelings as though they are humans is unrealistic and also does not give them the respect that they deserve.
