UK democracy under attack on multiple fronts

UK democracy under attack on multiple fronts

Nigel Pike’s letter illustrates that Thailand is not a democracy. A democracy is of the people, for the people, by the people. It is about the people and the rule of law.

Thailand is not a democracy because of the people. As a customer or plaintiff, try making a justified complaint to a large store or in a court of law and you will most likely become the victim.
Thais simply are not ready for democracy, otherwise they would have it.
Democracy is only as fit and as strong as the people are. Across Europe and even in the UK it is under serious threat. Democracy is wide open to abuse and it does not have teeth. It can be manipulated and swayed by self-interest, destructive ideas like political correctness and suicidal altruism. The Muslim invaders are openly calling for the destruction of democracy in favour of Sharia law. Unbelievably, laws have been passed supporting this fascist threat.
In the UK, democracy is also under feudal attack from the unelected House of Lords who are opposing the elected government over their Brexit plans. They are placing their self-interests before the 17.4 million people who voted in a referendum to leave the EU lock, stock and barrel. So we have the unelected EU, who make the laws, paying large sums of money to members of the Second Chamber for their support to undermine British democracy and remain in the EU.
Democracy urgently requires a law: “Abuse its principles and you’ll lose its benefits, its protection and the right vote.”
