Herd instinct is holding sway

Herd instinct is holding sway

Re:”Best way to protect animals is with your vote”, Have Your Say, June 2.

Buddhism could be defined with one word: “awareness”. Thais often refer to Lord Buddha as the first scientist. Well science is about discovering what is, reality, with a broad open mind: embracing reality with a macro frame of mind. 2,500 years ago Buddha was faced with the same closed parochial minds as Donald Trump is today.
While the world has moved on many people have not.
Eric Bahrt seems unable to take a macro view and link the dots. He appears to live in his micro world of veganism and causing no harm to animals. Though this is commendable within its limitations, it is his comfort. However, it should  be understood that Homo sapiens is also a species of animal.
Sadly, quite unlike other species, it is not integrated with nature which it constantly opposes. It is the only animal that does not instinctively recognise its natural food. It is this ignorance that causes its arrogance. It is this same restricted, insecure brain that becomes so easily indoctrinated, seeking safety in collectivism.
Yes, true history shows the Democrat Party was the party of slave owners. It has been moved so far left politically by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton that it embraces Marxism with its nonsensical political correctness (PC).
PC appeals to the herd instinct in people, destroying individualism that is encouraged by conservative thinking. Marxism is a totalitarian ideology, resulting in an Orwellian dystopia of centralised control of a population. It is exactly this that Donald Trump is reversing by draining the indoctrinated swamp of the parrot minds in Washington DC.
