More local topics, but not that one
Although there is no geographical limitation on the subjects debated in Have Your Say, I do agree with the observation from B Davies that there is too much content on foreign issues.
However, expressing outspoken and sometimes controversial opinions on current affairs in the UK and elsewhere will not result in any unwonted consequences. Such is not the case here in Thailand. There are many matters crying out for an open debate but which are simply too sensitive for public discussion because of cultural traditions and the reporting restrictions currently in place.
The latest international survey of press freedom by Reporters without Borders places Thailand at a dismal 140 among 180 countries. That says it all, or almost all. There are of course still matters that can be commented upon here, and I for one will take note of B Davies’ concern and try to redress the balance somewhat, while hopefully avoiding the risk of attitude adjustment.
