Hailing our heroic forest rangers

Hailing our heroic forest rangers

The SCG Foundation has announced a new collaboration with the Department of National Parks and partner organisations for the “Hands for Heroes” Project.

Aiming to raise public awareness in every sector and enhance recognition of the crucial role of the forest rangers while also supporting them to carry out their mission, the project involves several activities, which will be taking place all year round. The project kicks off with “Paint for Heroes”, an activity that offers an opportunity for the public to paint T-shirts and join the auction to raise money for the forest ranger patrol equipment.

SCG Foundation has been giving academic scholarships to the forest rangers' children since 2015 under the project “Sharing the Dream” and aims to express heartfelt gratitude to the forest rangers who sacrifice and devote their lives to protect natural and wildlife resources for the Thai people. The project also helps relieve the burden for the forest rangers so that they need not to be worried about their family who are left behind. To date more than 300 forest rangers’ children have received this scholarship from SCG Foundation.

“Three activities will be held this year which are Paint for Heroes, Run for Heroes and Song from Heroes-Song for Heroes. SCG Foundation would like to invite everyone to join hands to support these dedicated forest rangers who are on the front lines of the battle to protect our forest,” says Kajohndet Sangsuban, executive director, SCG Foundation.

Everyone is welcome to join the first activity by purchasing T-shirts and participating in T-shirt painting as well as the T-shirt auction featuring illustrations by artists inPe Seenam, Kru Sangkhom Thongmee, Assoc Prof Tinnakorn Kasornsuwan, Lampu Kansanoh, Pawanrat “Meow” Naksuriya, Watcharaboon “Note” Leesuwan, Sasin Chalermlarp and Wildlife Veterinarian Dr Pattarapol “Lotter” Maneeorn.

The event will also feature an exhibition of the ongoing projects from the network for the guards of the forest as well as concert from the forest rangers who chose songs telling their life.

All proceeds will go to the fund for patrol equipment for the forest rangers.
