THRIVING TCEB SURE OF YEAR’S PERFORMANCE

Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) has announced its latest statistics report showing that Thailand’s MICE industry continued its strong performance with 13 per cent growth in the number of MICE travellers and 5 per cent increase in revenue during the first half of fiscal year 2018.
Underpinning this growth is the strength of the country’s MICE industry, raising the bureau’s confidence in the year’s performance. The industry is expected to witness growth exceeding the target of 1.37 million MICE travellers and Bt124 billion in revenue at year-end.
Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, TCEB president, said that Thailand welcomed 547,623 MICE travellers in the first half of the current fiscal year (October 2017-March 2018).
The figures represent 13.14 per cent growth when compared to the number of MICE travellers in the same period last year. Meanwhile, the revenue from MICE reached Bt42.8 billion, or 5.7 per cent increased.
“These statistics signify that business travellers have confidence in Thailand and the country's potential as the destination for business activities. The growth of business travellers and revenue from MICE exceeded the earlier estimates.”
Of those key sectors in MICE which are Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions, the Meetings and Incentives (MI) sector contributes the highest growth rate every year. Breakdown figures in the first half of this fiscal year show that the country welcomed 150, 849 business travelers in the meeting sector with revenue of Bt14.5 billion; 176, 005 business travellers in the incentive travel sector with revenue of Bt10.2 billion; 147,877 business travellers in the convention sector with income of 12.09 billion; and 72, 892 business travellers in exhibition sector with revenue of Bt5.6 billion.
