UOB helps school with Lumpini Park charity run

More than 3,000 employees of United Overseas Bank (Thai), members of their families and customers and partners participated in the UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk recently, raising more than Bt2.2 million for underprivileged students at the Phra Dabos School.

The annual event is the bank’s main fundraising and volunteering effort, uniting UOB staff for a good cause.
It was held simultaneously in all of the bank’s key markets in Asia and brought together more than 17,000 colleagues in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
UOB’s Heartbeat corporate social responsibility programme focuses on art, children and education and promotes partnership, philanthropy and participation to strengthen community bonds.
In Thailand, the Heartbeat Run/Walk was held at Lumpini Park and featured a 2.5-kilometre walk, a five-kilometre run and a family carnival. This was the third year money was raised for the Phra Dabos School, 20 students from which participated in the event.
“Today marks a milestone in the eight-year history of the UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk in Thailand,” said chief executive and president Choon Hin Tan. “For the first time, customers and partners joined UOB colleagues and I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all for sharing in the bank’s commitment to give back to the community.”
