Ten out of ten: OCT chief sets bar high for Asian Games

Ten out of ten: OCT chief sets bar high for Asian Games

Olympic Committee of Thailand secretary-general Charouck Arirachakaran reckons that Thailand should win at least 10 gold medals in next month’s Asian Games.

The OCT executive member said the Kingdom had the potential to win no less than 10 golds, four from the sepak takraw competition, and added that the football team should reach at least the semi-finals.
“Judging from our standard, 10 gold medals are the number I target. We should win all four golds in the sepak takraw,” said Charouck during a meeting with representatives from sports associations at the OCT headquarters on Monday.
“For football, we should make it to the semi-finals, as we have done it before. But if possible, we hope to see a historic medal this time around,” he added.
He also said that the athletes would meet Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha at Government House on August 8 before they fly to Jakarta. The windsurfing team will be the first to depart to prepare, on August 1.
The Asian Games will run from August 18 to September 2.
