How those ‘annoying’ idealists eventually change the world

How those ‘annoying’ idealists eventually change the world

Growing up as a Jewish boy in America I sincerely believed that all critics of Israel were Jew-haters.

But when I was 19 years old I was talking to an educated, idealistic man who had no prejudice and he told me he was for Palestinian rights. I was horrified, and it wasn’t until years later I realised that the man was right.
My point is that changing people’s minds is a very slow process. You can’t do much for your cause if you write just one letter to a newspaper or attend only one
political demonstration. You have to keep pounding away to bring change.
Despite all the terrible injustice in the world, great progress has been made in both human and animal rights. And it’s because of “annoying” people such as myself who will never give up because to do so would be to turn my back on the suffering of humans and animals. And if I did that my life would be worth nothing.
