Trump’s boldness earns him fans
I’m not a Donald Trump fan, but one thing I like about him is his ability to make swift and bold decisions.
He dared to relocate the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, something his predecessors didn’t have the guts to do, despite Congress having passed a law for the relocation in 1995. Moreover, he stands up firmly to China’s aggression by declaring a trade war against it, while the rest of the world seems to flinch when China growls.
I would love to see Trump bolster the trade war by inviting Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen for a state visit with full honours, including troop inspection at Andrews Air Force Base, a speech to Congress, a White House state dinner, a Kennedy Centre concert – the whole shebang. Oh yeah, and go ahead and invite the Dalai Lama to the White House too while you are at it. That should make Beijing squeal.
If Trump did those things, I might even change my political stance to that of Nigel Pike, Alf Haupt, HHB and Michael Setter.
