Bangkok’s bordello districts all part of life’s rich banquet

I was bemused to read yesterday’s letter from Stuart Davie in which he expressed concern that Bangkok has no declared red light district, thereby posing a risk of moral harm to unwary tourists. Surely he must be aware that exposure to the more colourful aspects of urban life in a thriving metropolis like Bangkok is a universal social fact of life and not easily demographically confined or geographically restricted to family friendly zones. For me, while never needing to take advantage of such services, I consider it all part of the exciting and adventurous human tableaux that international travel offers. For those like Stuart, who may be more sensitive about such matters, perhaps an alternative destination or more thorough pre-travel research or advice from a booking agent would be useful in future.
