Thailand treats foreign residents like criminals on probation
I have lived in Thailand for the past seven years, own my own condo here, and am 74 years old. I find going to Immigration every 90 days to report myself makes me feel like a criminal. They might as well put a bracelet around my ankle and track my movements.
I have a one-year visa for non-residents which I renew every 12 months, leaving Thailand maybe once a year. Otherwise, I don’t travel around and am quite happy to stay in Patong. Why not ease the burden on Thai bureaucracy and foreign residents alike by extending the 90-day deadline to six months, which I believe would be sufficient? I welcome farang readers’ thoughts on this.
