More humane solutions than culling animals

More humane solutions than culling animals

Re: “Pigeon culls necessary for birds own good”, Letters, September 29.

The headline above my letter of September 29 misrepresented the point I was trying to make about the pigeons. I didn’t mean to say they should be culled. Rather, I was trying to say that when people feed the pigeons it leads to over-breeding which in turn may lead to culling.
This is similar to the stray dog problem. I don’t deny there could be situations where putting a stray dog to sleep may be justifiable. But wouldn’t it be better to take humane measures to prevent both dogs and pigeons from over-breeding in the first place?
