Krungsri, MUFG launch new payment system
Bank of Ayudhya Plc or Krungsri Bank, together with Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) will launch a cross-border QR code payment system, enhancing payment convenience and security. From December, customers will be able to scan the Thai QR code with any mobile banking application at leading shopping malls and popular stores throughout Japan.
Thakon Piyapan, Krungsri’s head of consumer group, digital banking and innovation division, said the QR code payment system via PromptPay serves as a stepping stone toward a global payment platform, happening for the first time in Japan.
