No stranger to Thai shores

No stranger to Thai shores

Grammy award-winning saxophonist Kenny G will be back in Thailand next month, entertaining his many fans in a charity jazz concert at Muangboran (Ancient City) in Samut Prakan on November 10.

The 62-year-old world-class contemporary jazz artist is just about to start a new Asia Tour and will be performing in Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur before heading to Bangkok.
The first-of-its-kind rendezvous of supreme architecture and artist in Thailand will contribute its proceeds, after deducting expenses, towards the funds for construction of “Navamindrapobitr 84th Anniversary Building” at the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital. The building will become one of the most modern and comprehensive medical centres in Thailand. The services provided at the centre will effectively elevate the quality of medical care, while ensuring fairness in service provision.
“Muangboran Samut Prakan is a private outdoor museum of Thailand that aims to preserve the true Siamese heritage. This largest outdoor museum spans more than 800-rai and we are glad and proud to present the perfect integration of Thai architectural intricacies and tasteful jazz acoustics. The concert’s backdrop is the architecturally beautiful Sanphet Prasat Hall that is modelled after the actual time-worn one in Ayutthaya. The backdrop will certainly provide a balanced presentation to the jazz and will leave lasting impression on everyone's mind,” said Ploynapat Sirisoontaropas, director of the Ancient City Group, during a press conference at Siam Paragon.
Smooth jazz saxophonist Tewan Sapsanyakorn and renowned vocalist Rudklao Amratisha entertained the crowd during the press conference.
Kenny G integrates elements of R&B, pop and Latin into jazz and since the early 80’s, his combination of unparalleled instrumental chops and indelible melodies have resulted in sales of more than 75 million records worldwide and more than a dozen climbs to the top of billboard’s contemporary jazz chart.
Kenny G has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the business during his legendary career, including Michael Bolton, Weezer, Whitney Houston and Katy Perry amongst many others.
