Junta would be wise to leave truth-speaking rappers alone

Re: “A Rap on the knuckles for junta”, The Nation, Oct 27.

I don’t see why the junta is so upset about the rap music video, “My Country’s Got...”. Its lyrics make more sense than the PM Prayut’s lullaby, “We’ll keep the promise (It won’t be long)”, which was all lies. By contrast, every word of the rap song is factual. Truth hurts, doesn’t it?
Anyway, I advise the junta to hold off and leave those rappers alone. Remember October, 1973? It all started with an impetuous decision by then junta government to detain a dozen university students who were distributing leaflets calling for democracy and election. The incident escalated – even without social media – into a mass protest that toppled the regime of former Army chief, coup leader, dictator and self-appointed prime minister Thanom Kittikachorn. See the parallel, dear PM Prayut?
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
