Still no alternative to Trump

Re: “Trump is messing up foreign policy”, Opinion, November 14.

I agree with Tulsathit Taptim that, in American politics, presidents who suffer midterm setbacks often bounce back to claim a second term. Hence, the world should not count out Donald Trump just yet.
Worse, the Democratic Party is still unclear as to whom it would second to contest with Trump in the 2020 presidential election. If the Democrats cannot raise their game by now, the US and the world will have to endure at least six more years of Trump. And that will not bode well for world peace. 
American voters should realise that, as a superpower, the US has the responsibility to treat 95 per cent of the global population in a fair-minded manner, the same way that it treats the 5 per cent that constitutes the US populace.
