To be kind to the cruel is to be cruel to the kind

To be kind to the cruel is to be cruel to the kind

Re: “Freedom of speech does not extend to hurling insults”, Have Your Say, yesterday.

My critics can dish it out but they can’t take it. It’s astounding that Vint Chavala writes that he wouldn’t “stoop so low” as to call people cowards when I used that word in response to a letter in which he indeed had called me a coward!
I’ve observed that it makes no difference to my critics whether I write polite or angry letters. They are just as vicious in their responses either way.
Earlier this year I attempted to patch things up with two of my critics and they responded to my letters by taking cheap shots at me. One of them, Robin Grant, went into another one of his demented tirades against the animal rights movement simply because he knows I promote vegetarianism. You can add to that the blatantly slanderous lies written about me on the websites and Internet forums.
“To be kind to the cruel, is to be cruel to the kind.” No longer will I show these very unkind people any politeness or respect.
