Season of goodwill interrupted by belch of boorishness

Season of goodwill interrupted by belch of boorishness

I read Nigel Pike’s letter in The Nation on Christmas Day with complete disbelief.

Eating vegan is anything but “miserable”, rather it is a great source for celebration, knowing our taste-bud choices have not harmed any gentle, sentient beings.
Plants grown in healthy soil are resistant to pest attack, therefore reducing the use of pesticides. The rapid growth of compassionate consciousness by people learning about the cruelty involved and overuse of antibiotics in intensively factory farming of animals. Added to that, the increased human health benefits are convincing them to become vegan.
Every person has the right to their own opinion, but, Mr Pike, boorish bullying is out of place in any rational discourse.
