Thailand stun Bahrain to keep Asian Cup's hope alive

Thailand kept their Asian Cup’s hope alive after they beat Bahrain 1-0 in their group A second game in Dubai, just four days after the sacking of Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac.

Under huge pressure from the disastrous 1-4 defeat to India on Sunday, Thailand needed a win to stay in contention in the group stage and they succeeded with a kick from the talented Chanathip Songkrasin in the 59th minute, through the assistance by right back Tristan Do.

The Kingdom, now under the supervision of caretaker coach Sirisak Yodyadthai, and India have three points each  in the group, will face a daunting task next agaist the United Arab Emirates on Monday in the last game. Bahrain and UAE have one point each.

Only top two from each group and four best third placed teams will move into the round of 16.

On Sunday Thailand played below par and fell to India for the fisrt time in 32 years. Rajevac was fired seven hours after the defeat.
