REFINERS NEED HELP TO  MEET EMISSION STANDARD

REFINERS NEED HELP TO  MEET EMISSION STANDARD

Six oil refiners have called for state support to meet the Euro 5 emission standard – a long-term measure to improve Thailand's air quality, expected to require about Bt35 billion in total investment.

The move came after a discussion yesterday between the Department of Energy Business and six oil refiners ( Bangchak Corporation Plc, Thai Oil Plc, PTT Global Chemical Plc, Esso Thailand Plc, IRPC Plc and Star Petroleum Refining Plc), on expediting the upgrade of their production facilities to the Euro 5 standard within five years.
Auttapol Rerkpiboon, PTT’s chief operating officer/downstream petroleum business, said the company is ready to upgrade its production facilities to the Euro 5 standard but the state have to announce a clear policy.
