The cry of hapless humanity

The cry of hapless humanity

I see toxic fog bundling down over me

Anxious innocent faces blip in and out of hazed mask-sheets
I see lives being depleted as on war-stricken streets
Toxic fog, lead-led, slowly infusing my lungs, killing me
Was I born in this mess to live?
Am I to die so that the blatant polluter may live?
What cry can I make on hell’s street
Bearing Angelic name, but silent in toxic death’s beat
To which saviour do I turn?
Who will greed and insensitivity burn?
Robotic machines churn and spew
Flames that belch out red and blue
Raise I my voice to cry “Stop, for mercy spare me,
Blow you infested winds out to the sea”
Regenerate life in heavenly fantasy
Let not this my verse to silence be cast
Stop polluting our earth, else it not last
Rise to new visions of the Greenland
Where we all humanity stand hand in hand
Singing in harmony a new symphony
Humankind unto itself alone can show noble mercy
