Canines bared over dog extermination plea

Canines bared over dog extermination plea

Re: “The logic of a cull is obvious: No canines, no attacks”, Have Your Say, February 28

Obviously this letter writer takes a leaf out of Hitler’s book by propagating the killing of all dog owners and their pets. Or is this an obnoxious way of provoking comments? Clearly this person still believes in Nazi ideology, hence the lies, insane logic and cognitive dissonance.
Let’s analyse his letter:
l Countless people are attacked in Thailand: Really? The number of people bitten by a dog can be counted on one hand. Mostly not by pet dogs but by stray dogs that have been treated badly, and who do not trust any human that comes close. Leave them be, and nothing will happen.
l Worthless animals: I believe my letter published on the same day clears up this point. Human lives saved by dogs are always underestimated.
l If there were no dogs how many attacks would happen: Zero, but the cost to human life would far outweigh the number of dog attacks.
l Dogs are dangerous animals: You call a Chihuahua, a Labrador, a golden retriever dangerous? Only two breeds are known to be dangerous – rottweilers and pitbulls – and that’s because humans train them for dogfights. Dogs are not dangerous, but their owners are, and you have my permission to put them in jail.
Accidents happen and one should look for reasons. Negligent car drivers kill people daily. Should these drivers be killed and their “pet cars” be destroyed? Electric shocks kill a lot of people every year. Do we kill the energy producers and electricity?
Many examples can be provided for sources of death. Do we kill every person that has introduced these sources?
This may be a thought to ponder upon.
