The high-protein vegetable that might pack a punch in the fight against cancer

The high-protein vegetable that might pack a punch in the fight against cancer

I enjoyed reading the article “Your Mother and Scientists are Right: Eat your Broccoli” (Opinion/Features, March 29), which notes that it has a compound that might protect people from getting cancer.

Years ago a well-known nutritionist, Jack Norris, told me if there is one food you should eat daily to reduce cancer risk, it is broccoli.
Broccoli also has plenty of protein and calcium, which should dispel the lie that you need to eat meat for protein and drink dairy milk for calcium. (I will go to my grave saying that the only one who needs to drink dairy milk is a cow.)
Broccoli also has no cholesterol and virtually no fat. Broccoli is about as close to being a perfect food as you can get.
