Confused about Brexit? It couldn’t be simpler…

Re: “Pity poor democracy, kidnapped and tortured by little Englanders”, Have Your Say, yesterday.

We continually read comments and articles scoffing at Brexit and democracy with little understanding of the two issues. Both can be described as independence and the right to self-determination.
The one thing we all value, whether we realise it or not, is our individual right to freedom of expression and our right to manage our own affairs. It’s a right enjoyed by all contributors to “Have Your Say” although not all seem to appreciate the fact. It’s called individual sovereignty. This same independence and right to self-determination, extended to one’s country, is called national sovereignty.
The European Union began as a free trade area with the Treaty of Rome in 1957. It has since evolved into a totalitarian political undemocratic organisation. To trade freely a country does not need to forfeit its sovereignty as demanded by the EU. The UK simply wants what it agreed to by referendum in 1975: free trade, not political union with loss of its sovereignty.
Any person deriding either democracy or Brexit is deriding and condemning the most valuable rights we have. In so doing they are wooing socialist dystopia.

A question for atheists:
How did we get here?

Like many atheists, Christian Knottone refers to evolution to “prove” there is no God. Aside from the fact that it’s far from certain that Charles Darwin was an atheist, evolution is the theory that everything evolved from something else. Atheism is the theory that creation evolved from absolutely nothing. That is completely different from evolution!
Will the atheists please tell me what is the force behind evolution and nature. Where did it all come from?
