Over 15,000 people to enter the “Happy and Healthy Run and Bike for the King”

To celebrate the auspicious occasion of the Royal Coronation Ceremony, eleven leading organizations led by Airports of Thailand PCL (AOT) and Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) are working together to organize historic “Happy and Healthy Run and Bike for the King” activities at the Happy and Healthy Bike Lane on May 25.

 

More than 15,000 runners and bicyclists sign up for the event staged to raise proceeds  will be presented to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

The event, raised to commemorate the Royal Coronation Ceremony of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn,consists of 10-km and 23.5-km run and a 23.5-km bike. With the aim to promote public health  through exercise, people from all walks of life are invited to join the event for  free of charge.

The Happy and Healthy Run and Bike for the King event was initiated with the cooperation by 11 leading organizations, including AOT, SCB, True Corporation PCL, Thai Beverage PCL, PTT PCL, Indorama Ventures PCL, Gulf Energy Development PCL, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services PCL, FWD Insurance PCL, Bangchak Corporation PCL, and King Power Group.

The activity application was launched on May 2, 2019 through registration at https://happyhealthyrunandbike.com and https://race.thai.run/SCBRUN. Application is open for 15,000 people, including the 23.5-km run for 4,000 people and the 10-km run for 6,000 people, and the 23.5-km bike for 5,000 people.Net proceeds will be presented to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua.

AOT President Mr. Nitinai Sirismatthakarn said that a lot of people have applied for “Happy and Healthy Run and Bike for the King” activities to demonstrate their loyalty and gratitude for the great kindness and generosity shown by His Majesty the King. AOT appreciates their heartfelt participation and is fully prepared to provide convenience to participants. Parking lots for over 6,000 vehicles will be provided free of charge at the Zone C car park, the temporary car park next to the Provincial Police Station at Suvarnabhnumi Airport, and car parks in the vicinity of the bike lane at Suvarnabhumi Road 4 and surrounding areas. Guide boards will be installed to lead runners and bicyclists to the parking lots. A shuttle bus service will be provided to bring them from the parking lots to the Happy and Healthy Bike Lane. AOT will put security officials in place to maintain security at all parking lots and offer drinking water to participants and visitors.

In addition, AOT plans to launch a volunteer project to help improve the Suvarnabhumi Airport landscape and provide convenience for “Happy and Healthy Run and Bike for the King” Activities on May 22, 2019. Under the project, more than 400 volunteer staff from AOT and various working units operating at Suvarnabhumi Airport, such as the Provincial Police Station at Suvarnabhumi Airport, tourist police, immigration command, and airline staff will participate in cleaning, collecting garbage, painting parking lots, maintaining guide boards, and cleaning shuttle bus parking lots in the surrounding areas.

SCB President Mrs. Apiphan Charoenanusorn said a large number of people are ready to participate in “Happy and Healthy Run and Bike for the King” activities in the wake of the auspicious occasion of the Royal Coronation Ceremony. SCB is ready to make things convenient for participants at this historic event. Applicants receiving confirmation emails are advised to receive shirts and commemorative bibs at Mahisorn Hall, SCB Headquarters, from May 18-19, 2019 during 08.00-20.00 hours. Those picking up shirts are required to show identification cards (or a copy of the ID card of someone picking up a shirt on their behalf), and confirmation emails (printed or shown on mobile phones). Participants in the bike activity who have never registered for SNAP are required to pick up their shirts and register for SNAP on their own. Thai citizens are required to use their national ID card, while foreigners can use their passport for registration. Wearing the commemorative shirts is mandatory, otherwise participants will not be permitted to join the activities.

The start and cutoff for the 23-km run activity is 4a.m. and 8 a.m., that for the 10-km run activity is 5a.m. and 8a.m., and that for the 23-km bike activity is 5.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m.
