No advance ticket for the Thai MotoGP? Be warned!

No advance ticket for the Thai MotoGP? Be warned!

Calling MotoGP fans. Did anyone notice the video footage of furious race fans locked out of last Sunday’s Italian MotoGP, clawing at the fences and crying into their beer? No? That’s because there weren’t any.

Instead, we were treated to the sight of thousands of happy racegoers on the grassy slopes around the track, cheering on their heroes, like any other race track in the competition ... except for Thailand’s.
I have an open letter to Chang International Circuit, who resolutely refuse to answer my emails of last October 11, November 1, January 31 and May 6, and whose “Contact us” link on their web page is permanently broken. Here goes:
On behalf of my family of 10 and the hundreds, maybe thousands, of disappointed fans who had biked or flown in from Malaysia, Australia and elsewhere in the hope of attending the October 2018 event, could you please state whether you intend to take our money, coop us up in a food centre in the car park, and deny us access to the circuit this year when the grandstands are full, like you did in 2018? Or will you open up the grassed areas between the grandstands like every other track I have ever visited in the world and let us watch the race? Because if it’s the former, we may as well stay put and watch it at a sports bar, and MotoGP fans from overseas can be spared a lot of expense, frustration, and avoid carrying away a perverse view of Thailand. Thank you very much.
Enough said.
