Posting a lifeguard for idiots not worth it

Posting a lifeguard for idiots not worth it

Re: “Phuket’s beaches still unguarded as monsoon threatens drowning epidemic”, Have Your Say, June 21.

With respect to the writer, the last thing we need on a Thai beach is some poor fellow sitting in the rain on the off chance that some idiot will try to swim.
All that’s needed is a sign saying, “Danger: Rough seas. Risk of death. Don’t do it”.
If anybody is brainless enough to go swimming and ends up dead, then we have an example of Darwinism at its finest.
Lifeguards during the tourist season? Okay.
But let us resist the incursion of a nanny state – people in Thailand know how to wipe their own bottoms.
