SEC tries to stimulate Thai capital markets

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will push for 10 strategies to drive the Thai capital markets, focusing to promote efficiency enhancement for competitiveness and investors’ protection.

Speaking at the “Strategies to Drive Capital Markets” seminar held by the Krungthep Turakij newspaper, Ruenwadee Suwannamongkol, SEC secretary-general, said that the 10 strategies will be executed under the 20-year national strategy.
While giving SMEs easier access into capital markets, investors’ protection will be upgraded through 24-hour complaints to the SEC and legal knowledge provided.
The SEC will go to provincial areas to promote investors’ savings for their retirement and ageing. Innovation will be developed and facilitation such as one-stop services, one report, single form and e-KYC will be provided to businesses.
Aiming to upgrade competitiveness and efficiency of services providers and related parties in the capital markets, the SEC will also promote data analysis through big data.
The securities watchdog will develop the capital markets with sustainability by upgrading corporate governance to environmental, social and governance. Foreign affairs will also be promoted.
Besides, the SEC plans to develop and enforce the laws with more efficiency and develop itself into a digital organisation.
