Da Vinci goes digital

Da Vinci goes digital

The Italian Festival in Thailand is celebrating the 500th anniversary of Leonardo Da Vinci this year with the exhibition “Leonardo Opera Omnia”, a digital showcase of the noted artist’s paintings.

Organised by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with the public broadcaster RaiCom, the show will run from September 4 to October 7 on the third floor of River City Bangkok.
The exhibition consists of 17 of da Vinci’s most prominent masterpieces, reproduced in digital form and in the exact dimensions of the original artworks. They include: “Mona Lisa”, “L’Annunciazione” and the rarely seen “The Last Supper”, the art piece found in the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, Milano.
Thanks to the use of sophisticated digital techniques, the visitor is able to examine and enjoy the great master’s most famous works of art like never before. The backlighting system adjusts the light intensity and the colour temperature, the first time these works have been presented with these enhancements, providing a truly unique experience.
The exhibition is the collaboration of a number of highly regarded professional photographers whose skill in reproducing the artwork in high resolution is evident.
In addition to the exhibition, two lectures will be given by Professor Paolo Euron from the University of Bologna. “Leonardo : Art, science, and the image of the modern human being” take place this Friday (August 23) from 4 to 5.30 pm and the second, “Art and nature in Michelangelo” on Saturday (August 24) from 2 pm to 3.30 pm
Both lectures are in English with Thai translation in Thai. Admission is free but registration is preferred. Log on to Facebook: River City Bangkok.
