Makro hosting annual expo with ‘community kitchen’ in Khon Kaen

Makro hosting annual expo with ‘community kitchen’ in Khon Kaen

Siam Makro is hosting its 11th Makro Retailer Expo in Khon Kaen, with the highlights of this year’s event being a “community kitchen” – which is dishing out ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook products – and providing professionals with know-how and the tools to run their businesses successfully, the company said in press release on Thursday.

The firm expects more than 50,000 people to attend the expo  at the Khon Kaen International Convention and Exhibition Centre from Thursday to Sunday.
“Recognising the importance of Thai retailers, or ‘shohuay’, as a key driving force to generate and distribute income within local communities, Makro has organised the expo each year as part of its Makro Retailer Alliance Project to provide insights and practical tools that our professional customers can use to run and expand their businesses,” Siam Makro PCL chief corporate communications officer Siriporn Dechsingha said. “A variety of products from more than 200 suppliers will also be offered at very special prices,” Siriporn added.
“Makro is determined to strengthen the capability of local retailers and create an advantage for them so they continue to grow in a sustainable way. Makro is therefore introducing its new community kitchen service to help retailers generate more income. Throughout the four days of the event, retailers are guaranteed to discover not only new business tips but also a creativity boost they can put to good use,” Siriporn said.
Retail stores are an integral part of the community and can be found in every corner of Thailand. The number of the stores is growing each year. According to a survey by the Thong Fah (Blue Flag) Pracharat scheme under the Commerce Ministry’s Department of Internal Trade, retailers are growing at 7 per cent, which is considered impressive, particularly in provincial areas.
“The 11th Makro Retailer Expo has a number of educational and informative activities, from seminars and workshops for professional customers to fun activities everyone can enjoy,” said Orawan Larpumnuayphol, chairwoman of the expo working committee. “We hope retailers will be inspired to continue growing and develop their shops to become a driving factor of the economy.”
