Two sites shortlisted for new airport in Nakhon Pathom

The Department of Airports has shortlisted two locations, after a study of ten potential sites, for the construction of Nakhon Pathom Airport. The project aims to ease heavy traffic and delays at existing airports, where demands have exceeded capacities, especially from private jets, said Deputy Transport Minister Thaworn Senneam on Tuesday (December 17).

The two locations are Bang Len and Nakhon Chai Si districts in the province, both located near a motorway linking Bangyai to Kanchanaburi and take about an-hour drive form Bangkok.
The new airport will occupy 3,500 rai. It will have three passenger terminals, and a carpark for 5,200 vehicles
Thaworn said the project might come under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme, adding that the department was expected to wrap up an investment study early next year before submitting a proposal to the Cabinet.
If the project is approved by all related parties, construction can begin in 2023 for commencement of operations in 2026.
