Rinda Paruechabutr is accused of breaching the Computer Crimes Act, Article 116 of the Criminal Code and for giving rise to panic. She was arrested under Article 44 of the provisional charter on Thursday in Pathum Thani province for circulating false allegations that Prayut and his wife Naraporn had transferred Bt10 billion to a bank in Singapore.
Police said a court arrest warrant would be issued later.
The woman is a member of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship.
Police believe there are more people circulating the same false rumour against the PM and his wife.
Article 44 allows the National Council for Peace and Order to enforce martial law, the emergency decree and Internal Security Act to tackle security and political trouble to ensure efficiency in enforcing the military government’s authority.
