Dow Thailand Group continues to develop materials science innovations that address the sustainability needs of customers and industries. Most recently, key products in its styrene-butadiene latex, or carboxylated styrene-butadiene latex, portfolio — DL930PA, XQ83281.00 and XQ83286.01 — have received Carbon Footprint of Product (CFP) certification, while XQ83281.00 has also received the Carbon Footprint Reduction (CFR) Label from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization), or TGO. The certifications reflect Dow’s commitment to developing products that help reduce environmental impacts and support customers in moving towards more environmentally responsible production.
Carboxylated styrene-butadiene latex, a synthetic latex, is an important raw material for the coated paper and food-can industries. The certifications reflect a focus on carbon management across the assessed product life cycle, with greenhouse gas emissions evaluated in accordance with TGO criteria from the acquisition of raw materials through the manufacturing process at Dow’s plant in Rayong. The resulting data can be used to guide further improvements in product and manufacturing efficiency while continuously reducing environmental impacts.
Ekkasit Lakkananithiphan, Executive Vice President of Dow JV Business, Dow Thailand, said:
“Dow sees sustainability as part of innovation design, rather than simply an end goal. We therefore focus on developing materials that enable customers to achieve real carbon reductions while maintaining product performance.
“These certifications underscore Dow’s progress in applying our materials science expertise to create measurable solutions and support industrial growth while reducing environmental impacts.”
Dow Thailand Group’s Styrenics business currently has 11 products certified with Carbon Footprint of Product labels and eight products certified with Carbon Footprint Reduction labels. This reflects the company’s continued development of a product portfolio backed by clear environmental data, helping customers use that information in their decision-making and make tangible progress towards their own greenhouse gas emissions-reduction targets.
Dow aims to combine its materials science expertise with innovation and an understanding of customer needs to develop materials and solutions that enhance product performance, reduce environmental impacts and support the industrial sector’s transition towards a low-carbon economy.
The company believes that building a sustainable future requires collaboration across all sectors and that effective innovation should create benefits for businesses, customers, society and the planet.
