Thanyakorn Still In Contention for First Win in 3 Years

Midway leader Thanyakorn Khrongpha still held onto his lead after a 68 and a total 13-under-200, one ahead of his close senior friend Udorn Duangdecha in the Bt3 Million Singha Panasonic all Thailand Championship at the Laem Chabang International Country

“I started quite well with birdies and an eagle on the seventh hole but a bad tee-off into the jungle cost me a double bogey on the ninth. At the back nine, I had the same problem like on Friday as I didn’t make easy putts. I just tried to hang in there,” said Thanyakorn who birdied the last hole to surge on the of the top of the leader’s board.

Once again, he is in contention going into the final day. But over the past few years the 26-year-old hasn’t seized his opportunity and ended up in dismal form in the final round which led to being runner-up in several tournaments.

“Here I am again in this position but I think I get used to being in the lead and missing chances in the final day already. I just hope to make my putts tomorrow. But it will be fun to be in the last squad with Udorn. I predict a play-off between us,” Thanyakorn said.

Udorn, who just won the last All Thailand Tour circuit a fortnight ago in Khon Kaen, fired a third round  67 for a combined 12-under-par 201. A shot behind at lone third was Wolmer Murillo of Venezuela who shot a 69 and a total 202.
