Rev launches specialty store for runners
Four more REV RUNNR stores to open in Bangkok in 2016 to capitalize on growing fitness trend
Rev, formerly known as Sports Revolution Com, announced plans to expand Rev Runnr, a specialty sports store for runners, cementing its position as Thailand’s leading distributor of sportswear and sports products, and industry leader of sports business.
Running enthusiasts had the opportunity of seeing some of the services and products to be offered at the soon-to-open stores in Bangkok, at Rev Runnr’s temporary model store during the International Running Expo 2016, held at EmQuartier on October 12-16.
Established in 2000, Rev is one of Thailand’s fastest growing companies in the sports industry. As the company has a wealth of experience in both retail and wholesale, and currently operates a combination of flagship stores, branded stores, specialty shops and shop-in-shops, Pornsak Chinawongwatana, CEO of Rev, said that it was only a matter of time before the company launched its own branded store.
“Running has become very popular in Thailand in recent years, so we wanted to bring all that we had learned, and our expertise in delivering a world-class shopping experience and service to empower our customers,” said Pornsak.
Rev opened its first Rev Runnr store in The Mall Korat earlier this year, and plans to open four more stores before the end of 2016, in Central Plaza Pinklao, The Mall Bangkapi, Terminal 21 and Emporium.
Expansion plans for 2017 show no sign of slowing either, with at least four chain stores planned to open, including stores at Siam Paragon, EmQuartier, Mega Bangna and Central Plaza Lardprao.
“At Rev Runnr we know all about running, so we carefully select our range of products and services based on what we know our customers actually need. Our Tech Trainers and specialists are also experienced runners who can provide in-depth information about the products and running equipment, so customers know that they are getting top-class service by professionals who know what they’re doing,” said Pornsak.
Customers, from beginners to professionals, can visit Rev Runnr to get wearable sports tech, and fitted out with from head to toe in the latest sportswear from brands such as Under Armour, Vibram, Asics, and Sof Sole, the number one insole in the US, while also learning how to perform better.
“Rev Runnr is focused on using the latest innovation and technology to offer the best products and services to runners, like for example, being the first company in Asia to use the RunTime treadmill. The RunTime treadmill allows highly accurate postural analysis, by calculating the plantar pressures during walking and running,” said Pornsak.
The gait analysist can analyze the result and suggest which sole style – neutral, stability, racing or minimal – is most suitable for that particular runner. The insoles are specially-made in the Rev Runnr stores by CNC Milling Machines.
“Rev Runnr is more than just a sports retail store,” said Pornsak. “We are a real running community that shares experiences and running events, both at a local and international level.”
Rev Runnr plans on reaching runners, from beginners to advanced, through sponsorship of popular upcoming sport events: Ironman 70.3 Thailand on November 27, 2016 and Bangkok Midnight Marathon in 2017.
