Bodin/Nipitphon pick up silver in Denmark Open

Thailand'sBodin Isara/Nipitphon Phuangphuapet fought hard against Malaysians Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong to go down a hotly-contested battle to the Rio Olympic silver medalists and world No.7 in the men's doubles showdown showdown of the Yonex Denmark Open World Superseries Premier Badminton Championships in Odense, Denmark.

The 21-14 20-22 19-21 loss in the Sunday’s final handed the Thai pairing the silver medal, their best performance so far this year. Bodin and Nipitphon have yet won a tournament this year. They have advanced to the quarter-finals in three major tournaments comprising the SCG Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold at home, the Chinese Taipei Open and Swiss Open.

Meanwhile, the Sunday’s win added another accolade to the Malaysian duo’s achievement. This year, Goh and Tan have already won the Syed Modi International badminton Championships aside from claiming three bronze medals from the Korea Open, India Open and All England.

However, despite the loss in the men’s doubles on Sunday, Thailand was already on cloud nine earlier when Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk made history as he became the first Thai ever to win the men’s singles title in the World Superseries Premier event following his 21-14 23-21 win over Korean Son Wan Ho in the showdown of the US$700,000 Denmark Open.
