12-year-old Nichakan Lands 4th in Battle Slalom.

Twelve-year-old Nichakan Chinupun landed at fourth in the battle slalom junior women which turned the best result by Thai athletes in the 10 th World Inline Freestyle Championships at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium on Sunday.

The girl from Songkhla maximized her effort in her national team debut and managed to book a top 5 finish.

“I’m so glad even though I didn’t win a medal. This is my first time in a world class event and I think I have done quite OK,” said Nichakan.

Chinese Liu Jiaxin impressed the judged with her spectacular performance to win the gold medal, beating Russian  Sofia Bogdanova and Anna Smirnova who settled and second and third.

In the battle slalom junior men, Wattapong Kongpan was the best Thai performer after he came at fifth.

“This is beyond expectation. To finish fifth in the world is amazing,” Wattanapong said.

 Chinese skaters fully occupied the top three positions, with Zhang Hao winning the gold, followed by Gu Kunqi and Li Wenzhuo at second and third.

In the men senior slalom Thai hope Kanchanok Sawangsri lost his momentum at the end of his performance and had to settle at only 13th.
