Nichakan Produces Thai 1st Gold in World Inline Freestyle.
Sonkhla girl Nichakan Chinupun struck the first blood for Thailand in the 10 th World Inline Freestyle Championships after she won the battle slide senior women event at Hua Mark Indoor Stadium on Monday.
The 12-year-old Nichakan beat Russian Olga Fokina and Chinese Guan Yinying with her impressive roller-skate techniques to claim the first gold medal for the host country as the curtain was pulled down on Monday evening.
“I did not how to describe my feelings. I never thought I would win this because it’s the biggest tournament in the world. I’m so overwhelmed and proud of myself,” said the tiny girl who settled at fourth in the battle slalom junior women on Sunday.

In the men’s category, Chawis Rompo and Phuri Sanarat also yielded the silver and bronze medals for the Kingdom. Chinese Huang Haiyang won the first place.
“The achievements from Nichakan, Chawis and Phuri proved that Thai extreme sports has moved up to the next level. I really thank all coaches, athletes and staff for their great teamwork towards the right direction,” said Ptiti Bhiombhakdi, president of the Thailand Extreme Sports Association.
