The 40-year-old former tennis star received the award presented by an ITF official Nitin Kannamwar during the Fed Cup Welcome Party in Astana on Tuesday night.

"I’m very proud and honoured to receive this award. Every time I played for Thailand, I felt proud because I represented my nation," said Tamarine who holds the most winning record of 50 from 76 matches by a Thai in the Fed Cup.

"One of the most important things for a tennis player is to play for your country," she added.
