Pavit has to settle as runner up in Rayong

Pavit Tangkamolprasert blamed himself for blowing away a four stroke lead as he lost the final to young gun  Chanahok Dejpiratanamongkol in the Bt2.20-million Singha Championship at the Rayong Green Valley Country Club on Sunday.

The overnight leader who  spent four hours at the hospital on Saturday’s night for intravenous therapy due to food poisoning, started the final day with four strokes advantage before three bogeys between holes 13 -16 pushed him backward for 15 all with the 2016 All Thailand Tour rookie of the year Chanachok.

They were locked at 15 under after the regular round before the 23-year-old Chanachok sealed off the victory with a 21-foot-birdie in the play-off on the 18th hole.

“I already gave my all but I’m not physically OK. Then there was some rain break (after the front nine) which made it even tougher. But I have to give Chanachok credit for playing so well in the end especially when I birdied on the 17th hole and did the same to catch up with me,” said Pavit still looking for his first win since Macao Open in October.

“I only had myself to blame to make those bogeys. As I said earlier, if you hit the ball to the wrong position, you have to pay for the price.  I made mistakes I shouldn’t have made. I will go back home and get ready for my next event in the Singha Masters in Chiang Rai next month.”
