Ladies European Golf Returns to Thailand
The Ladies European tournament will return to Thailand for the first time in 12 years as the Bt12 million inaugural Ladies European Thailand Championship will tee off at the Phoenix Gold Golf and Country Club in Chonburi between July 6-9.
A total 126 players, 70 from the Ladies European, 40 from the Thai LPGA, four from the national team and 12 from invites will take part in the country’s second biggest international female golf event behind the LPGA Thailand which already took place in February.
Thailand last held a Ladies European event, Thailand Ladies Open, at the Alpine Golf and Sports Club in Pathumthani in April 2005. Unlike the previous edition, this is the first time that a Ladies European event is co-sanctioned by the Thailand Ladies Golf Professional Golf Association with support from the Sports Authority of Thailand.
However all the country’s top golfers including Ariya Jutanugarn, sister Moriya and Pornanong Phatlum will not participate in this home event as they are all committed to the LPGA competition in Wisconsin in the same week.
