Busanan and Nitchaon in, Ratchanok out in Indonesia Open

World No 12 Busanan Ongbamrungphan easily trounced Natalia Koch Rodhe of Denmark 21-8 21-8 to reach the second round of the BCA Indonesia Open in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The Thai No 2 showed her supremacy over the 37th ranked Dane in just 27 minutes to face a HUrculean task against Chinese sixth seed Sun Yu tomorrow.

But eighth seed Ratchanok Intanon was upset by India’s Saina Nehwal 21-17 18-21 12-21 in the battle between former world No 1 players. The world No 11 Nehwal snapped the run of Ratchanok who just won her first title in 13 months in the Thailand Open two weeks ago.

Joining Busanan in round two is Thai No 3 Nitchaon Jindapol, No 15 in the world, who beat 21-16 21-14 win over Kim Hyo Min of South Korea. She will take on Nehwal on Wednesday.

Thai No 4 Pornpawee Chochuwong went down to fourth seed Sindhu Pusarla of India  12-21 19-21.

In mixed doubles Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai were handed defeat by Malasia’s Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Jamie Lai 16-21 21-15 12-21. It was the same pair that eliminated the Thai duo from the Thailand Open semi-finals. Bodin Isara and Savitree Amitrapai also crashed out after losing to world No 2 Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong of China 21-15 16-21 17-21.
