Marathon organised for Bridge on the River Kwai

The Athletic Association of Thailand (AAT) and BEC-Tero Entertainment will stage the second the second FB Battery River Kwai Half Marathon Thailand Championship on Sunday December 10 in Kanchanaburi.

Participants in the event, certified by the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) and International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), will have the chance to run across the famous bridge over the River Kwai.
The event features three race categories: a half marathon (21.1 km) with a registration fee of Bt620, a mini-marathon (10.5 km) with a registration fee of Bt420, and a fun run (5 km) with a registration fee of Bt420. 
All participants will receive a running shirt with numbered bibs, as well as a medal on completion of the event.

Pol. Gen. Sant Sarutanond, AAT president said: “The inaugural River Kwai event was a great success last year due to the large number of runners participating. The event follows all international protocols and our staff members will be there taking care of all runners.”
More than 9,000 runners are expected to take part in the marathon. Among celebrities signing up for the event are top model Yossawadee Hassadeewichit and news anchorman Pipoauh Poomkaewkra from Channel 3’s Reung Lao Chao Nee (Morning News).


“If you love running and are looking for a tournament to start, this tournament will serve you not only a chance to work out but also to experience great nature and historical scenery along the way,” said Pipoauh, who will take part in the 21.1 km category.
Applications can be submitted through ThaiTicketMajor from August 27–November 12 or at www.berving.com. 
A special early bird application fee is available for those who register before 27 September.
